&lt;br&gt;
Sadly, it appears the people at the top are also stuck in the cosy rosy past, imagining the brand itself a perpetual gravy train that'll sell itself no matter what. Of course they'll get fat payoffs &amp; new positions elsewhere - for the 30,000 staff it's a different matter.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
So they'll just have to tune in to your uplifting channels this Christmas for some spiritual significance, Ms Astral ! ;)&lt;br&gt;

In theory Woolies was a great general store.  Notice I said in theory.  But it needed an inspirational kick up the sweet aisle to keep trade flourishing. The only time that it was ever whart we call 'packed' was during toy sales and such, Christmas usually found it quite busy, but I have to admit that it has not been as busy in the past few years as it used to be. Probably because the stock changed so much and there are too many 'cheaper' shops out there, well we are in a recession you know!
